What you need:
mosaic tiles,
wood glue,
object that you want to decorate,
optionally joint grout
Choose an object that you want to decorate with mosaic tiles.
Boxes, trays, and picture frames are good for
beginners.
Distribute the mosaic tiles on the object completely.
In a second step, stick the mosaic tiles onto the object one by one.
Let the glue dry.
Mix the grout with water and apply it onto the tiles.
Wipe away superfluous grout. Let the grout dry (time mentioned on the
packaging).
That's it!
You can buy special mosaic glue.
This glue smells quite pungent which might ruin the fun of crafting for some people.
As an alternative, you can use wood glue. This works especially well on wood and cardboard. Children can work with wood glue too. If the mosaic tiles are stuck together close enough, it is not necessary to grout the object. Thus, children can create beautiful objects in next to no time. Nevertheless, the objects have to dry for some time after you have applied the
mosaic.
As joint grout can irritate skin and respiratory tracts, children should not work with it. Either you do without grouting or an experienced adult takes care of it.
