What you need:
cardstock,
scissors,
knife,
transparent paper
(e.g. coloured cellophane or parchment / greaseproof / wax paper),
glue,
pencil
Cut out two pieces of cardstock.
One should be 24.5 x 8 in large, the other 7 x 7 in.

Fold one of the short edges of the large piece up (about 0.5 in). Divide the rest of the stripe into four parts of similar size (6 in
each).

Draw a rectangle into each part leaving a margin of about 0.5 to 1 in to the edges. Cut out the rectangles with a
knife.

Cut rectangles out of transparent paper that
are a little larger than the cardstock
ones.
Cut the transparent paper rectangles
into the windows of the cardstock
stripe.

Fold up the edges of the other cardstock piece (about 1 in).
Cut into the corners and glue the edges
together.

Glue the cardstock stripe around these edges.

Make two small holes into the upper rim of the lantern on opposite sides.
Pull a piece of string or wire through the holes for
hanging.
